The City Rises #001

Welcome to the debut episode of The City Rises which airs each Friday night (Sat morn) from Midnight till 2am on Triple R, 102.7FM. After a slightly flustered beginning we quickly moved into the business. Tonight was a night for each of us to deliver a little snippet of what can be expected from the City Rises.

First up it was Inskwell on the ol’ skool hip-hop, future beat and Detroit flavours. An amazing 2562 remix of Pattie Bligh and the Akebukan 5, some local business from Adelaide’s Edseven, Andres and Theo Parrish on the Detroit flavours and a couple of cuts from the new Stones Throw ol’ skool hip-hop 45 boxset. Followed in quick succession by Martin L who started with his record of the year, Dimlite’s Quiz Tears on All-City Records, jumped on the Detroit vibes with cuts from Cybotron and Drexciya, hit-up some funky UK flavours courtesy of Kode9, dropped the dutch dubstep of Martyn and 2562, got on the German minimal with a Modern Love cut from Andy Stott and played the incredible James Blake remix of Untold’s Stop What You’re Doing on the amazing Hemlock Records. Finally Rambl stepped to the wheels with one of Zomby’s more mature records, a couple of funky numbers courtesy of Untold and Brackles, the amazing J&W Beat from Floating Points, a Dutch techno cut from the mysterious Redshape and an exclusive from Africa Hi-Tech. We finished off with a few select cuts before handing over to the graveyarders. A great time was had by all and we got a few encouraging calls which is always nice. It looke like the beginning of a beautiful relationship…

See you next week!
