It seems like we say this every year but 2011 was a great year. The quality switch has been left in the ”on” position for a while now and we’re continually surprised by the quality and variety of musical output.

All hands on deck this week at the new time slot of Sunday nights, 8-10PM EST on Triple R Melbourne for the month of December. Nice.

Aside from the usual quality jams, Rambl got the chance to talk production, Timbaland and astral travelling with LA producer Mono/Poly. Charles first piqued our interest a few years back with his work on the Jay Scarlett/Circulations New Worlds compilation. He’s put out a few EP’s and LP’s (Oil Fields on Fat City featuring heavily on TCR), over the years and earlier in 2011 dropped his Manifestations EP on Brainfeeder. Early in 2012 we’ll be lucky enough to have Mono/Poly down in Australia for his first tour down under. Check!

99th show. Crazy stuff.
Loads of new tracks this week, including some great cuts courtesy of some of the This Thing crew. Thomas William (from Sydney) and James Ireland (from Perth) with a couple of beautiful tracks showing that there’s plenty of home grown talent out there. They were amongst a fairly worldly track list, although I couldn’t help drop some Detroit flavours at the end. (Still on a high after Anthony Shakir a few weekends ago).

A very special guest on the show this week in the form of Ben Taaffe. One of Perth’s finest selectors, co-host of “Underground Solution“, (an iconic and influential show on WA’s RTRFM) and all round nice guy. He took us on nothing short of a musical journey featuring new material from All City’s LA series, Joy O, Hype Williams, Mau’lin, Kidkanevil, Ghostpoet, Clustering Allusion and Charles-Eric Charrier amongst many others.

You might also note a couple of tracks on the Japanese Art Union label at the start of the show. There is some pretty terrible things happening to our neighbours up there so throw a few dollars their way and help out if you can via the Red Cross.

Double the trouble this week, not one but two guests in the form of Adelaide’s Tyson ‘Bucking’ Ballard (Voyeurhythm Records) and the UK’s Trus’me (Prime Numbers). They treated us to some unreleased business as well as some classic tracks on the house tip. Tyson was in town for his Voyeurhythm party at Croft on Saturday. Speaking of parties, big shouts and happy birthday to Mr Declan Kelly, hitting 30 in style with a cracking warehouse party at Anytime Place in Brunswick. Post party I kicked things off in a hazy style with some downbeat business from FS Green, Ruckazoid and Machinedrum before moving into 4/4 territory as a warm up for the guests. Unfortunately some random fluff caused some grief on the new Shake remixes but you can be sure we’ll be caning those tracks for a while to come so it won’t be you’re only chance to hear them.
